MAY ACTIVITIES

Sat May 17 Easy Hike:  North Salt Lake Foothills

The trail climbs into the foothills above North Salt Lake, passing through mixed maple/scrub oak forests and meadows and reaching the ridge of City Creek Canyon.  There are spectacular views of the Great Salt Lake, City Creek Canyon, and the Wasatch Mountains.  Elevation gain: approximately 1000 feet.  There is one steep section of about 300 yards; the rest of the trail is moderate.  Round trip distance: 4 miles.  Dogs are allowed on this trail.

Meet at 10:00 AM just west of the Chevron station at 200 South and 700 East ? .this is just around the corner from where we traditionally meet.  Parking is available on 200 South.  We will carpool to the North Salt Lake Future Trailhead regrouping at about 10:40.

Driving directions to the North Salt Lake Trailhead:  - From Salt Lake go north on Beck St to Highway 89. From the north take the 2600 S exit in Bountiful and turn south on Main St. One third mile south of Center St in North Salt Lake City take Eagle Ridge Drive east up the hill, follow it as it winds its way a couple of miles all the way up the bench.  Turn right on Eagle Point Drive, then left on Sky Crest Lane.  The trailhead is at the end of Sky Crest Lane.

 

JUNE ACTIVITIES

Sun June 8

Pride Day Parade. 

 We will be marching in the parade this year.  Everyone in the club is invited to march with us.  Wear hiking clothes, and don't forget water, sunscreen, and a hat!  Meet at 9:00 at the parade staging area. The parade begins at 10:00.

Summer Car Camping Trip:  Great Basin National Park.   

This national park, 4 hours southwest of Salt Lake City, has caves, high mountain lakes, and ancient bristlecone forests.

Fall Car Camping Trip:  Escalante/Boulder Mountain.
