    Day hike up Mt. Van Cott.

    Great views of the city. Trails very steep in a few places. There are two trails to the peak. The less difficult is located North of the University off the Bonneville Shoreline trail.

    Stansbury Island

    It takes about 1/2 hour to drive from SLC to exit 84 to Stansbury Island. Once the pavement ends, which is a couple of miles from the exit, there is about 4 miles of dirt road-- a rig with a higher clearance than a passenger car would be recommended. The road isn't rocky but there are some deep ruts to negotiate. At some point the dirt road is blocked and the hike to the petrogylphs is about 1 - 1 1/2 mile along a flat jeep trail-- not at all strenuous. It could take 30-45 minutes to explore the ridge where the petroglyphs are located--- would be good to have lunch there.
